Lubowel 24mg Cap (Lubiprostone) is a chloride channel activator. It increases chloride secretion into the intestinal lumen, which in turn draws water into the intestines, softening stool and increasing bowel movements. This effect is localized primarily to the intestines and doesn't significantly affect other parts of the body.
Store at room temperature (20-25°C/68-77°F). Protect from moisture.
For CIC: The usual dose is 24 mcg twice daily.
For IBS-C: The usual dose is 24 mcg twice daily.
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Nausea (most common)

The interaction between lubiprostone and alcohol is not well-established. It's best to avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medication and to consult your doctor.
Lubiprostone may cause dizziness or nausea in some patients. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these side effects.
Consult your doctor before taking lubiprostone if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant. The safety of lubiprostone during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established.
Lubiprostone is not approved for use in children.
Caution is advised in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be necessary.
No significant changes in dose are usually needed in patients with liver disease, but your doctor should be aware of your liver condition.
