Gemfibrozil

Is the active ingredient in most formulations.

Lowering high levels of triglycerides (a type of fat) in the blood.

Reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with high triglyceride levels and low HDL cholesterol (the 'good' cholesterol).

Lopid 600mg Tab (Gemfibrozil) is a fibrate. It works primarily by activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α). This activation increases the breakdown of triglycerides in the liver and reduces their production, leading to lower triglyceride levels in the blood. It also modestly increases HDL cholesterol levels.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage and frequency are determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

Typically taken twice daily with meals.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of liver damage. Discuss alcohol intake with your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Gemfibrozil may cause dizziness or fatigue. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Gemfibrozil should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically prescribed by a doctor. The benefits must outweigh the potential risks.



Children

Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.



Kidney

Caution is needed in patients with kidney problems; dosage adjustments may be required.



Liver

Gemfibrozil is metabolized by the liver. Liver function tests should be monitored, especially in patients with pre-existing liver disease.
