Lisinopril

Lisinopril is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Lisinopril Tablets Ip 5mg (Lisinopril) works by blocking the action of an enzyme called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). ACE normally converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a powerful vasoconstrictor (a substance that narrows blood vessels). By blocking ACE, lisinopril prevents the formation of angiotensin II, which leads to relaxation of blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and improving blood flow to the heart.

Store lisinopril at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it in the original container to protect it from light. Do not store it in the bathroom.

The dosage of lisinopril will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and medical history.

It is usually taken once a day, with or without food.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

Common side effects include cough, dizziness, headache, fatigue, and diarrhea.

Serious side effects can occur, including angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), high potassium levels, low blood pressure, kidney problems, and liver problems.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can interact with lisinopril and increase the risk of side effects. Talk to your doctor about alcohol consumption while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Lisinopril may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Lisinopril is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It can cause serious harm to the developing baby.



Children

The safety and effectiveness of lisinopril have not been established in children.



Kidney

Lisinopril can affect kidney function. If you have kidney problems, your doctor will monitor your kidney function closely.



Liver

Lisinopril can affect liver function. If you have liver problems, your doctor will monitor your liver function closely.
