Linagliptin

Linagliptin is the active ingredient in medications like Trajenta, Glyxambi, and Jardiance.It belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.

Linagliptin is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.

It helps to control blood sugar levels by increasing the amount of insulin released from the pancreas.

Linapil Tab (Linagliptin) works by blocking the enzyme DPP-4, which normally breaks down incretin hormones like GLP-1 and GIP. These hormones help to stimulate insulin production and reduce glucagon release, ultimately lowering blood sugar levels.

Store Linagliptin tablets at room temperature, between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F). Keep Linagliptin tablets in their original container, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets.

The usual starting dose of Linagliptin is 5 mg once daily.

Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

Linagliptin can be taken with or without food.

Common side effects include headache, upper respiratory tract infection, and nausea.

Serious side effects are rare but may include pancreatitis, allergic reactions, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of low blood sugar. Consult with your doctor about alcohol consumption while taking Linagliptin.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Linagliptin may cause dizziness or lightheadedness in some individuals. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Linagliptin affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Linagliptin should not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor about the safety of Linagliptin during breastfeeding.



Children

Linagliptin is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Patients with severe kidney disease may require a lower dose of Linagliptin. Consult with your doctor.



Liver

Patients with severe liver disease should avoid taking Linagliptin.
