Metformin

A biguanide oral antidiabetic drug that improves insulin sensitivity and decreases glucose production by the liver.

Linagliptin

A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor that enhances the body's own incretin hormones, leading to increased insulin release and reduced glucagon secretion.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially those who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with metformin monotherapy.

This combination therapy works synergistically. Metformin improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production. Linagliptin enhances the action of incretin hormones, GLP-1 and GIP, leading to improved glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppression of glucagon secretion. This combined action results in better blood sugar control.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on individual patient needs and response. It typically starts with a lower dose of both medications, gradually increasing to the target dose.

Usually taken once daily with a meal, to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

Never adjust the dosage without consulting your physician.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially if combined with other diabetes medications or if the dose is not properly adjusted.

Alcohol Consumption

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult a doctor immediately.



Children

Not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Requires careful dose adjustment in patients with kidney disease due to the risk of lactic acidosis. May be contraindicated in severe renal impairment.



Liver

Caution is advised in patients with liver disease, as metformin may exacerbate existing liver problems.
