Levofloxacin

A type of antibiotic that belongs to the fluoroquinolone class. it works by killing bacteria that cause infections.

Levofloxacin works by inhibiting the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA replication. This prevents the bacteria from multiplying and spreading the infection. Ambroxol acts by increasing the production of surfactant, a substance that helps keep the airways open and reduces mucus build-up.

Store the medication at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage and frequency of administration will depend on the type of infection being treated and the individual patient's needs. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage for you.

The medication is usually taken by mouth with a full glass of water.

Do not crush or chew the tablets.

Do not stop taking the medication before completing the prescribed course, even if you feel better.

Less common side effects: Joint pain, tendon inflammation, skin rash, photosensitivity

Common side effects: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, dizziness

Serious side effects: Seizures, hallucinations, liver damage, kidney problems, allergic reactions, Clostridium difficileassociated diarrhea

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking levofloxacin, as it can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Levofloxacin can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Levofloxacin is not recommended for pregnant women, as it can harm the developing fetus. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers, as it can pass into breast milk.



Children

Levofloxacin is not usually recommended for children, as it can affect their growth and development.



Kidney

Levofloxacin is not recommended for people with kidney problems, as it can be harmful to the kidneys.



Liver

Levofloxacin is not recommended for people with liver problems, as it can be harmful to the liver.
