Donepezil

Is a cholinesterase inhibitor.

Memantine

Is an nmda receptor antagonist.

Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

Donepezil works by increasing the levels of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory and learning, in the brain. Memantine blocks the activity of a specific type of glutamate receptor, known as the NMDA receptor, which is thought to be involved in the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily.

The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily after 4 to 6 weeks, based on individual response.

Take the medication at approximately the same time each day, with or without food.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

Hallucinations

Agitation

Confusion

Seizures

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption as it may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Consult with your doctor about the risks and benefits.



Children

This medication is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Liver
