Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Gabapentin and amitriptyline can be harmful to a developing fetus and should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. These medications are also excreted in breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Gabapentin and amitriptyline are not recommended for children unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.



Kidney

People with kidney problems may need a lower dose of gabapentin or amitriptyline. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function.

People with liver problems may need a lower dose of amitriptyline. Your doctor will monitor your liver function.
