Treatment of seizures in adults and children with epilepsy, including generalized tonicclonic seizures, partial seizures, and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Treatment of bipolar disorder (manicdepressive illness) in adults.

Lamictal Xr 50mg 30s Tab (Lamotrigine) works by blocking the activity of certain nerve cells in the brain that are involved in causing seizures and mood swings. It is thought to do this by stabilizing the release of certain neurotransmitters, such as glutamate and GABA.

Store lamotrigine at room temperature, between 15-30 degrees Celsius (59-86 degrees Fahrenheit), away from heat, light, and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children.

The dosage of lamotrigine will vary depending on the individual's age, weight, and medical condition. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Lamotrigine is typically taken by mouth, with or without food.

Your doctor may start you on a low dose and gradually increase it over time.

It is important to take lamotrigine regularly as prescribed, even if you feel well.

Dizziness

Alcohol Consumption

It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking lamotrigine, as it may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Lamotrigine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or other side effects that could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how lamotrigine affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Lamotrigine can harm an unborn baby. It is not recommended to take lamotrigine during pregnancy unless your doctor believes the benefits outweigh the risks. Lamotrigine passes into breast milk, and it is not recommended for use while breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking lamotrigine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Lamotrigine is safe and effective for children with epilepsy. However, children may be more likely to experience certain side effects, such as skin rash.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose of lamotrigine.



Liver

If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose of lamotrigine.
