A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (nsaid) that inhibits platelet aggregation.
An antiplatelet drug that works by preventing blood clots.
Prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in patients with a history of heart attack, stroke, or peripheral artery disease.
Treatment of acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina, nonST-segment elevation myocardial infarction).
Aspirin irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), reducing thromboxane A2 production and platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel inhibits the activation of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptors on platelets, further reducing platelet aggregation and clot formation. The combination provides enhanced antiplatelet effect.

Commonly, aspirin is prescribed at a low dose (e.g., 75-325 mg daily), while clopidogrel is typically prescribed at a dose of 75 mg daily.
