Joypride 200mg Tab (Amisulpride) is a substituted benzamide derivative that acts primarily as a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist. It exhibits atypical antipsychotic properties, meaning it preferentially blocks dopamine D2 receptors in the mesolimbic pathway (involved in positive symptoms) while having a relatively weaker effect on dopamine D2 receptors in the nigrostriatal pathway (involved in motor control), reducing the risk of extrapyramidal side effects compared to typical antipsychotics. It also displays some serotonin 5-HT2 receptor antagonism.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.

Dosage should always be determined by a physician and individualized based on patient response and tolerability.

The usual starting dose may vary but commonly ranges from 50-300mg daily, taken in one or two divided doses.

Extrapyramidal symptoms (though less common than with typical antipsychotics, such as Parkinsonism)

Somnolence (sleepiness)

Hyperprolactinemia (elevated prolactin levels, potentially leading to galactorrhea, amenorrhea, gynecomastia)

Weight gain

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol should be avoided or consumed in moderation while taking Amisulpride, as it can potentiate sedative effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how Amisulpride affects you. Sedation and dizziness are possible side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Amisulpride should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. Consult your physician. It is not recommended for breastfeeding women.



Children

Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.



Kidney

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with impaired renal function.



Liver

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with impaired hepatic function.
