Empagliflozin

A type of medicine called a sglt2 inhibitor. it works by helping your kidneys remove excess sugar from your blood through your urine.

Metformin

A type of medicine called a biguanide. it works by helping your body use insulin more effectively and by reducing the amount of sugar your liver produces.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus: To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone have not been enough.

Cardiovascular risk reduction: In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) such as heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death.

Jardiance Met 5mg/500mg Tab (Empagliflozin + Metformin) works by combining two different mechanisms to lower blood sugar levels. Empagliflozin blocks the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion in the urine. Metformin improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production, decreasing the amount of glucose released into the bloodstream.

Store at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep the tablets dry and protected from light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of reach of children.

The dosage of Empagliflozin + Metformin will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

It is typically taken once daily with a meal to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.

Serious side effects can occur, including: lactic acidosis (build-up of lactic acid in the blood), low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), dehydration, and kidney problems.

Common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and urinary tract infections.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of low blood sugar and lactic acidosis. It is best to avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication can cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

This medication is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Kidney disease may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage or monitor your kidney function while you are taking this medication.



Liver

Liver disease may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage or monitor your liver function while you are taking this medication.
