Ipratropium bromide is a bronchodilator used to treat bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
It is also used to prevent bronchospasm triggered by exercise or cold air.
Ipravent Rotacaps (Ipratropium Bromide) works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe. It belongs to a class of drugs called anticholinergics. It blocks the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that causes the muscles in the airways to contract.
Store ipratropium bromide at room temperature, away from light and moisture.
Do not store in the bathroom.
Keep ipratropium bromide out of reach of children and pets.
Dispose of expired or unused ipratropium bromide properly. Do not flush down the toilet or pour down the drain unless instructed to do so.

Ipratropium bromide is typically inhaled through a nebulizer or a metered-dose inhaler (MDI).

It is also not known if ipratropium bromide passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before using ipratropium bromide if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Ipratropium bromide is not recommended for use in children under 12 years old. However, it is sometimes used to treat asthma in children under 12 years old under the guidance of a doctor.
