Ipratropium Bromide

Ipratropium bromide is a bronchodilator used to treat bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

It is also used to prevent bronchospasm triggered by exercise or cold air.

Ipravent Rotacaps (Ipratropium Bromide) works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe. It belongs to a class of drugs called anticholinergics. It blocks the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that causes the muscles in the airways to contract.

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Ipratropium bromide is not known to be harmful to a developing baby when used as directed. However, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. It is also not known if ipratropium bromide passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before using ipratropium bromide if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Ipratropium bromide is not recommended for use in children under 12 years old. However, it is sometimes used to treat asthma in children under 12 years old under the guidance of a doctor.



Kidney
