Metformin

Vildagliptin

A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor that enhances the body's natural incretin hormones, leading to increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion.

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when metformin alone is insufficient to control blood sugar levels.

Intaglip M Od 1000 Tab (Metformin + Vildagliptin) work synergistically to improve blood sugar control. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, while vildagliptin enhances the incretin effect, leading to increased insulin secretion and reduced glucagon release. This combined action leads to better glycemic control than either drug alone.

Children

Not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Renal function should be monitored regularly, as metformin is primarily excreted through the kidneys. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with impaired kidney function.



Liver

Liver function should be monitored, especially in patients with liver disease. Metformin may be contraindicated in severe liver impairment.
