Metformin:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in adults, when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient to control blood sugar levels.

May be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications, including insulin.

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, which can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.



Kidney

Metformin can accumulate in people with kidney problems. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor your kidney function closely.



Liver

Metformin can increase the risk of lactic acidosis in people with liver problems. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor your liver function closely.
