Is the active ingredient in medications used to manage type 2 diabetes.
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients who cannot achieve adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise alone.
May be used in combination with other antidiabetic medications, such as metformin or insulin.
Egluna 80mg Tab (Gliclazide) is a sulfonylurea drug that works by stimulating the release of insulin from the beta cells in the pancreas. This increased insulin secretion helps to lower blood glucose levels.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Check the expiry date on the packaging.
Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional and tailored to the individual's needs and response to treatment.
Usually started at a low dose and gradually increased as needed.
Taken once daily, preferably with breakfast.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms can include sweating, tremor, dizziness, confusion, and palpitations.
Gastrointestinal upset: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain.
Allergic reactions: Rash, itching, or hives.
Jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)
Blood disorders (rare)
Alcohol can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Limit alcohol intake while taking gliclazide.
Hypoglycemia can impair concentration and reaction time. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered and only prescribed by a doctor who will weigh the benefits and risks. It's generally not recommended during breastfeeding.
Gliclazide is not typically used in children.
Renal impairment may necessitate dose adjustment. Consult your doctor.
Hepatic impairment may necessitate dose adjustment. Consult your doctor.
