Finasteride

A 5α-reductase inhibitor that blocks the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (dht), a hormone implicated in hair loss.

Androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness) in men

May be used offlabel for other hair loss conditions, but efficacy is not consistently established.

Minoxidil improves blood flow to hair follicles, providing them with more nutrients. Finasteride reduces DHT levels, slowing down hair follicle miniaturization and potentially stimulating hair regrowth. The combination aims to synergistically improve hair growth results.

Minoxidil: Itching, irritation, redness at the application site, unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body.

Finasteride: Decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders, breast tenderness or enlargement (gynecomastia). These effects are usually reversible upon cessation of use.

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate alcohol consumption is generally considered acceptable, but excessive alcohol use may interact with both medications. Consult your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Generally safe, but individual reactions can vary. Caution is advised if drowsiness or dizziness occurs.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Finasteride is contraindicated in pregnant women and women who are trying to conceive, due to the risk of birth defects in male fetuses. It's unknown if minoxidil is safe for pregnant women; therefore, consultation with a physician is vital. Breastfeeding mothers should consult a physician before use.



Children

Not recommended for use in children unless specifically prescribed by a doctor due to limited data on safety and efficacy.



Kidney

Patients with severe kidney disease should exercise caution and consult with their doctor before taking finasteride or minoxidil, due to potential for drug accumulation.



Liver

Patients with severe liver disease should exercise caution and consult with their doctor before taking finasteride or minoxidil, due to potential for drug accumulation.
