Levetiracetam is the active ingredient in medications like Keppra, Levetiracetam ER, and others.It is an anti-epileptic drug (AED) used to control seizures in people with epilepsy.
Treatment of partialonset seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and children aged 4 years and older.
Treatment of myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy.
Treatment of primary generalized tonicclonic seizures in adults.
Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of seizures associated with LennoxGastaut syndrome in children aged 2 years and older.
Ictacetam 1000mg Tab (Levetiracetam) is thought to work by binding to a specific protein in the brain called synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A). This binding disrupts the release of neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that help nerve cells communicate with each other. This disruption of neurotransmitter release is thought to reduce the likelihood of seizures occurring.
Store Levetiracetam tablets at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep the tablets in their original container, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets.
The dosage of Levetiracetam is determined by your doctor based on your age, weight, and the type of epilepsy you have.
It is typically taken twice a day, either with or without food.
