Mucopolysaccharide Polysulfate

Mucopolysaccharide Polysulfate (MPS) is a complex mixture of sulfated polysaccharides extracted from porcine intestinal mucosa.It is a highly purified and standardized drug formulation.

MPS is primarily used to treat hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol and triglycerides) in patients who haven't responded adequately to other treatments.

It is also sometimes used in combination with other medications to treat certain types of heart disease.

It has been used to treat certain types of inflammatory conditions, such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, but these uses are not currently approved by regulatory agencies.

MPS works by lowering cholesterol levels in the blood by increasing the removal of cholesterol from the body. It is believed to achieve this by: Inhibiting cholesterol synthesis: MPS blocks the production of cholesterol in the liver. Promoting cholesterol excretion: MPS enhances the removal of cholesterol from the body through the bile. Reducing LDL cholesterol uptake: MPS inhibits the absorption of LDL (bad) cholesterol from the intestines.

Store MPS tablets or capsules at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Keep MPS out of reach of children.

Do not use MPS after the expiration date printed on the label.

Dispose of unused MPS properly according to your pharmacist's instructions.

The dosage of MPS will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and medical history.

MPS is usually taken orally once or twice daily with a meal.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not change your dose without their guidance.

The most common side effects of MPS are gastrointestinal disturbances, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Less common side effects include: Skin rash Headache Muscle aches Dizziness Fatigue Liver dysfunction

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can interact with MPS and increase the risk of liver damage. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking MPS.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

MPS may cause dizziness and fatigue. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

MPS is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The potential risks to the fetus or infant outweigh the benefits.



Children

MPS is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

MPS may be harmful to people with kidney disease. If you have kidney problems, discuss this with your doctor before taking MPS.



Liver

MPS can affect the liver. It is important to monitor your liver function while taking MPS.
