Hydrochloride is the active ingredient in medications containing cyproheptadine.

Treatment of serotonin syndrome (in severe cases, often as part of a multidrug regimen).
Appetite stimulant (offlabel use, primarily for weight gain in specific situations; use should be under strict medical supervision).
Grogro Syp 200ml (Cyproheptadine) is a first-generation antihistamine with sedative and appetite-stimulating properties. It works by blocking the action of histamine at H1 receptors, thus reducing allergic symptoms. Its appetite-stimulating effect is not fully understood but may involve actions on serotonin receptors.
