Glucagon is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the pancreas.The glucagon medication available for injection contains synthetic glucagon, which is a man-made version of the natural hormone.

Treatment of severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in people with diabetes.

Emergency treatment of hypoglycemia in individuals who are unable to take oral glucose (sugar) due to unconsciousness or inability to swallow.

Children

Kidney

Glucagon is not known to be significantly affected by kidney function.



Liver

Glucagon is metabolized by the liver. Individuals with liver disease may need dosage adjustments.
