Glimepiride

Metformin

A biguanide oral antidiabetic drug that improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose production by the liver.

Vitamin D3

A fat-soluble vitamin essential for calcium absorption, bone health, and potentially impacting insulin sensitivity.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in adults when metformin alone is insufficient to control blood glucose levels.

Specifically indicated for patients who require the combined action of a sulfonylurea, a biguanide, and supplemental Vitamin D3 to manage their blood sugar.

This combination medication works synergistically. Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas, while metformin enhances insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production. Store at room temperature (below 30°C) in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Generally, the medication is taken orally, typically once daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

The dose may be gradually increased or decreased as directed by the physician based on blood sugar monitoring.

Gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) – more common with metformin.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms include dizziness, sweating, tremor, weakness, hunger.

Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling).

Weight gain (possible with glimepiride).

Elevated liver enzymes (rare).

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol should be consumed in moderation or avoided entirely, as it can increase the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis.



While Driving or operating Machinery

If experiencing hypoglycemia, avoid driving or operating machinery. Dosage adjustments may be needed.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Generally, not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult a doctor immediately if pregnancy is planned or suspected.



Children

Not usually indicated for children. Use in children is not established.



Kidney

Metformin is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustments are necessary in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment.



Liver

Caution is advised in patients with liver disease. Liver function monitoring might be necessary.
