Teneligliptin

Teneligliptin is the active ingredient in the medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.Teneligliptin is available in various formulations, including tablets and oral solutions.

Teneligliptin is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

It helps control blood sugar levels by increasing the levels of incretin hormones.

It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications.

Gliptel Tablet (Teneligliptin) works by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4. This enzyme normally breaks down incretin hormones, which are produced by the intestines and help regulate blood sugar levels. By inhibiting DPP-4, teneligliptin increases the levels of incretin hormones, leading to enhanced insulin secretion and reduced glucagon secretion, thereby helping to lower blood sugar levels.

Store teneligliptin at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight.

The dosage of teneligliptin is determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and medical history.

It is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

Do not crush or chew the tablets, and swallow them whole with water.

Common side effects include headache, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, and diarrhea.

Serious side effects are rare but can include pancreatitis, allergic reactions, and low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can interact with teneligliptin and may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Consult your doctor for guidance on alcohol consumption while taking teneligliptin.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Teneligliptin does not typically cause drowsiness or impair cognitive function. However, if you experience any side effects that could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery, it is advisable to refrain from doing so.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

The safety of teneligliptin during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Consult your doctor before taking teneligliptin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Teneligliptin is not recommended for children, as its safety and effectiveness in this population have not been studied.



Kidney

Teneligliptin is primarily excreted by the kidneys. Your doctor may adjust the dosage if you have kidney problems.



Liver

Teneligliptin is metabolized in the liver. If you have liver problems, your doctor may monitor your liver function and adjust the dosage accordingly.
