Used in patients who require both increased insulin release and improved insulin sensitivity.
Glimepiride stimulates insulin release from the beta cells of the pancreas, while metformin enhances insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues and reduces hepatic glucose production. The combination provides a synergistic effect in controlling blood glucose levels.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Taken with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
Gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite) – more common with metformin.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms include sweating, shakiness, dizziness, confusion, and rapid heartbeat.

Vitamin B12 deficiency (longterm metformin use)
Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis. Limit alcohol intake.
Hypoglycemia can impair alertness and reaction time. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms.
Generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for alternative options.
Not typically prescribed for children. Other medications may be more suitable.
Metformin should be used with caution, or avoided altogether, in patients with impaired kidney function. Regular kidney function monitoring may be needed.
Liver function should be monitored, especially during initial treatment and if there are signs of liver disease.
