Gentamicin

Is an aminoglycoside antibiotic.

Serious bacterial infections, including:

Infections of the lungs (pneumonia)

Infections of the urinary tract (UTI)

Infections of the skin and soft tissues

Infections of the abdomen (peritonitis)

Infections of the blood (bacteremia or sepsis)

Meningitis (infection of the brain and spinal cord)

Gentamicin may be used alone or in combination with other antibiotics.

Gentoson Eye/Ear Drops 5ml (Gentamicin) works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It does this by interfering with the production of proteins that are essential for bacterial survival.

Store gentamicin at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not flush unused medication down the toilet or pour it into a drain unless instructed to do so by your doctor.

The dosage of gentamicin will vary depending on the type of infection being treated, the severity of the infection, and the patient's age, weight, and kidney function.

Gentamicin is typically given by injection into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly).

It may also be given by topical application to the skin or eyes.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and route of administration for you.

While Driving or operating Machinery

Gentamicin can cause dizziness, so it is recommended to avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Gentamicin can harm a developing baby. It should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers as it can pass into breast milk.



Children

Kidney
