Genrest 2mg Tab (Risperidone) is an atypical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain. Dopamine blockade helps manage psychotic symptoms like hallucinations and delusions, while serotonin modulation helps reduce negative symptoms and improve mood.

Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage is determined by a physician based on individual needs and response. It is crucial to follow prescribed dosage and frequency exactly.

Available in various formulations (tablets, oral solution, etc).

Dosage may be adjusted over time.

Increased prolactin levels (leading to potential breast enlargement or milk production)

Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) such as muscle stiffness or involuntary movements (less common with risperidone than with typical antipsychotics)

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) – A rare but potentially fatal side effect requiring immediate medical attention.

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Risperidone may pass into breast milk and may have adverse effects on the infant.



Children

Risperidone is not indicated for all children. Use in children is limited to specific conditions and under close medical supervision. Dosage is carefully adjusted based on age and weight.



Kidney

Dosage adjustment may be necessary for patients with kidney impairment.



Liver
