Metformin

This combination medication works in three ways to lower blood sugar levels:

0 Sitagliptin: Increases the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which normally breaks down these hormones. These hormones stimulate the pancreas to release more insulin and suppress the liver's production of glucose.1 Metformin: Reduces glucose production by the liver, improves insulin sensitivity, and slows the absorption of glucose from the intestines.2 Glimepiride: Stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, leading to lower blood sugar levels.

Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

This medication is typically taken orally once daily, with or without food.

Common side effects include:

Nausea

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Headache

Dizziness

Upper respiratory tract infection

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially if the dose is too high or if you don't eat regularly.

Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or swelling.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can lower blood sugar levels and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. It's important to limit alcohol intake while taking this medication and to talk to your doctor about any concerns.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about alternative treatments if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

This medication is not approved for use in children.



Kidney
