Dalteparin Sodium

Dalteparin Sodium is the active ingredient in this medication.It is a type of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH).Heparin is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that helps prevent blood clots.

Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients undergoing surgery or who are bedridden.

Treatment of DVT and PE.

Treatment of unstable angina and nonST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in combination with other medications.

Treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Prevention and treatment of blood clots in patients with certain medical conditions, such as atrial fibrillation or cancer.

Fragmin 5000iu Inj (Dalteparin Sodium) works by increasing the activity of antithrombin III, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps prevent blood clots. By increasing the activity of antithrombin III, Dalteparin Sodium prevents the formation of blood clots and reduces the risk of blood clots breaking loose and traveling to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) or other parts of the body.

Store Dalteparin Sodium at room temperature, between 15-30 degrees Celsius (59-86 degrees Fahrenheit), away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

The dosage of Dalteparin Sodium will depend on your medical condition and your individual needs.

It is typically administered by injection under the skin (subcutaneously).

Your doctor will instruct you on the proper dosage and frequency of injections.

Do not stop taking Dalteparin Sodium without first talking to your doctor, even if you feel better.

If you miss a dose of Dalteparin Sodium, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of bleeding while taking Dalteparin Sodium.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Dalteparin Sodium may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Dalteparin Sodium should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus. It is unknown if Dalteparin Sodium passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.



Children

Dalteparin Sodium is not recommended for children under 18 years of age unless otherwise directed by a doctor.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust the dosage of Dalteparin Sodium.



Liver

Dalteparin Sodium is not recommended for people with severe liver disease.
