Finasteride

Finasteride is the active ingredient in the medication.It is a type of medication called a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor.

Treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men.

Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate.

Finabald 2.5mg Tab (Finasteride) works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a powerful androgen that contributes to hair loss and prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride helps to slow hair loss and shrink the prostate.

Store finasteride at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep it away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of finasteride will vary depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient.

For hair loss, the usual dose is 1 mg taken once daily.

For BPH, the usual dose is 5 mg taken once daily.

It is important to take finasteride exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

You can take finasteride with or without food.

Common side effects of finasteride include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculatory disorders.

Less common side effects include breast tenderness, gynecomastia (breast enlargement), and depression.

Some men may experience a decrease in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, which is a marker for prostate cancer. Your doctor will monitor your PSA levels if you are taking finasteride.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects, particularly those related to sexual function.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Finasteride is not expected to impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Finasteride is not safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken finasteride tablets. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using finasteride.



Children

Finasteride is not intended for use in children.



Kidney

Finasteride is mainly processed by the liver, so it is generally safe for people with kidney problems.



Liver

If you have liver problems, you may need a lower dose of finasteride or to take it less often.
