Levothyroxine

Is the synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (t4).

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid): Levothyroxine is the primary treatment for hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough thyroid hormones.

Goiter (enlarged thyroid): Levothyroxine can be used to treat goiters caused by hypothyroidism.

Thyroid cancer: Levothyroxine is used after surgery to remove the thyroid gland to suppress the production of thyroid hormone.

Other thyroid disorders: Levothyroxine may be used to treat other thyroid disorders, such as thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid gland) and thyroid nodules.

Euthyrox 100mcg 100s Tab (Levothyroxine) works by replacing the thyroid hormone that your body is not producing enough of. It helps to regulate your metabolism, heart rate, body temperature, and other important bodily functions.

Store levothyroxine at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it in its original container.

The dosage of levothyroxine is determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and medical history.

Levothyroxine is usually taken once daily, on an empty stomach, at least 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast.

Do not crush or chew levothyroxine tablets. Swallow them whole with water.

It is important to take levothyroxine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

More serious side effects are possible, such as heart palpitations, chest pain, and seizures.

Common side effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, nervousness, tremor, insomnia, and weight loss.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine. It's best to avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Levothyroxine can cause side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Levothyroxine is generally safe to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it's important to talk to your doctor about the potential risks and benefits.



Children

Levothyroxine is safe for children, but the dosage is adjusted based on their age and weight.



Kidney

Levothyroxine is not recommended for people with severe kidney disease.



Liver

Levothyroxine is not recommended for people with severe liver disease.
