Ondansetron

Ondansetron is the active ingredient in the medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists.

Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.

Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

Treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with gastroenteritis.

Management of nausea and vomiting in patients receiving radiotherapy.

Treatment of chemotherapyinduced delayed nausea and vomiting (CINV).

Emefilm Tab (Ondansetron) works by blocking the action of serotonin (5-HT3) in the brain and the gut. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in regulating nausea and vomiting. By blocking serotonin receptors, ondansetron prevents the signals that trigger vomiting from reaching the brain.

Store ondansetron at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of ondansetron will vary depending on the reason for taking it and the patient's age and medical condition.

It is usually taken by mouth as a tablet, capsule, or oral solution.

Ondansetron can also be given by injection into a vein (IV) or muscle (IM).

Always follow your doctor's instructions carefully when taking ondansetron.

Do not take more or less than the prescribed dosage.

Headache

Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling).

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking ondansetron may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Ondansetron can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

It is not recommended to take ondansetron during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

The safety and effectiveness of ondansetron in children have not been established.



Kidney

Ondansetron may be adjusted in patients with kidney problems.



Liver

Ondansetron may be adjusted in patients with liver problems.
