Regular human insulin is a type of insulin that is identical in structure and function to the insulin your body naturally produces in the pancreas.The specific concentration of insulin per ml will be indicated on the product label (e.g., U-100 means 100 units of insulin per milliliter).

Regular human insulin lowers blood glucose levels by binding to insulin receptors on cells, facilitating glucose uptake and utilization. It also inhibits glucose production by the liver and enhances the synthesis of glycogen and proteins.

Store unopened vials in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Avoid freezing. Once opened, store the vial at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F) for up to 28 days. Always keep insulin away from direct heat and light. Discard unused insulin after the expiration date.

Dosage is individualized and determined by a healthcare professional based on blood glucose levels, HbA1c, and individual response.

Administered via subcutaneous injection using a syringe or insulin pen.

Regular insulin typically needs to be injected 30-60 minutes before meals to prevent hyperglycemia.

Do not mix regular insulin with other types of insulin unless specifically directed by your doctor.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms may include shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, and loss of consciousness.

Allergic reactions: ranging from mild skin reactions to severe anaphylaxis.

Children

Dosage and administration in children will be adjusted based on age and weight by a healthcare professional.



Kidney

Kidney impairment may affect insulin clearance and dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Liver impairment may affect insulin metabolism and dosage adjustments may be necessary.
