Artemether + Lumefantrine is a combination antimalarial drug that contains two active ingredients:
Artemether: An artemisinin derivative with rapid antimalarial activity.
Lumefantrine: A synthetic arylamine with a longer-acting antimalarial effect.
Treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, the most dangerous type of malaria parasite.
Suitable for adults and children weighing at least 5 kg (11 pounds).
Artemether and lumefantrine work by killing the malaria parasites in the blood. Artemether acts rapidly to kill the parasites in their blood stage, while lumefantrine provides a longer-lasting effect, preventing the parasites from multiplying and spreading.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
The dosage and duration of treatment vary depending on age, weight, and the severity of the infection. Always follow the instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist.
Typically, the tablets are taken with a fatty meal (such as a peanut butter sandwich) to improve absorption.
