Furoate an amoebicide specifically targeting entamoeba histolytica.
Treatment of intestinal amebiasis (amebic dysentery and amebic colitis) caused by Entamoeba histolytica.
Treatment of asymptomatic cyst passers of Entamoeba histolytica.
Metronidazole interferes with the DNA of susceptible organisms, leading to their death. Diloxanide furoate acts by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of Entamoeba histolytica within the intestinal tract.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.

Typically administered orally with or without food.
Complete the entire course of medication as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence.

Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment and for at least 24-48 hours after completing the course. Metronidazole can cause a disulfiram-like reaction (severe nausea, vomiting, headache) when combined with alcohol.
