Donepezil

Donepezil is the active ingredient in the medication.It is a cholinesterase inhibitor.

Treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.

May help improve cognitive function, such as memory, thinking, and reasoning.

Donep Sr 23mg Tab (Donepezil) works by increasing the levels of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory and learning, in the brain. It does this by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine.

Store at room temperature, away from heat and light.

Dosage is typically started at 5 mg once daily.

Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your response to treatment.

Take Donepezil as directed by your doctor.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

It can be taken with or without food.

Nausea

Diarrhea

Vomiting

Muscle cramps

Fatigue

Headache

Dizziness

Insomnia

Loss of appetite

Weight loss

Bronchospasm (wheezing)

Slow heartbeat

Seizures (rare)

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects. It is best to avoid alcohol while taking Donepezil.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Donepezil can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Donepezil should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor about alternative treatments.



Children

Donepezil is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Donepezil may need to be adjusted for patients with kidney disease.



Liver

Donepezil may need to be adjusted for patients with liver disease.
