Desogestrel

A synthetic progestin hormone.

Prevention of pregnancy.

Treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in women who desire contraception.

Desolon 30mg Tab (Ethinyl Estradiol + Desogestrel) work primarily by suppressing ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Ethinyl estradiol also thickens the cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach the egg, and it thins the uterine lining, making implantation less likely. Desogestrel further contributes to the contraceptive effect through its progestational actions.

Store at room temperature, below 25°C (77°F), away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Take one tablet daily, at approximately the same time each day, with or without food.

Follow the instructions provided in the patient information leaflet supplied with your medication.

Headache

Breast tenderness

Nausea

Weight changes

Mood changes

Spotting or breakthrough bleeding

Changes in menstrual cycle

Increased risk of blood clots (thrombosis)

Increased blood pressure

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate alcohol consumption is generally not considered to significantly interact with ethinyl estradiol/desogestrel. However, excessive alcohol intake may increase the risk of certain side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication is not expected to impair driving or operating machinery, however, some side effects like dizziness or headache could affect performance and should be considered.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Patients with severe kidney disease may require dose adjustment; consult a physician.



Liver

Patients with severe liver disease should not use this medication.
