A type of medication called a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor. it works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in adults when diet and exercise alone have not been sufficient to control blood sugar levels.
May be used in combination with other diabetes medications, such as insulin, to improve blood sugar control.
This combination medication works by lowering blood sugar levels in three ways: by increasing glucose excretion in urine (dapagliflozin), by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity (metformin), and by enhancing insulin secretion and reducing glucagon secretion (sitagliptin).

This medication is usually taken orally once daily, with or without food.

Serious side effects can occur, including: lactic acidosis (a buildup of lactic acid in the blood), kidney problems, bone fracture, and allergic reactions.
Common side effects include: urinary tract infection, yeast infection, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Alcohol can increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and may interact with this medication. Consult your doctor about alcohol consumption while taking this medication.
This medication may cause dizziness or low blood sugar, which could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Use caution and avoid these activities if you experience any side effects.
This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is also not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Discuss the risks and benefits of taking this medication with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
This medication is not approved for use in children.
