Dapagliflozin

A sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (sglt2) inhibitor that helps your kidneys remove excess sugar from your blood into your urine.

Metformin

A biguanide that lowers blood sugar in several ways, including by increasing insulin sensitivity and decreasing glucose production by the liver.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in adults who haven't achieved adequate blood sugar control with metformin alone.

May be used as initial therapy in some patients with type 2 diabetes.

Dapagliflozin works by blocking the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, preventing the reabsorption of glucose back into the bloodstream. This leads to increased glucose excretion in the urine. Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity in muscle and fat tissues, and reduces intestinal glucose absorption.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C/77°F). Protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

Typically taken orally, once daily, with or without food.

Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia, especially if combined with other diabetes medications or insulin)

Ketoacidosis (a serious complication, more likely with higher doses, in individuals with kidney impairment)

Alcohol Consumption

Limit alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia.



While Driving or operating Machinery

May cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor.



Children

Not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Use with caution in patients with moderate or severe kidney impairment. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Use with caution in patients with liver disease. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
