Dapagliflozin

A sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (sglt2) inhibitor that helps your kidneys remove excess sugar from your blood into your urine.

Metformin

A biguanide that lowers blood sugar by decreasing glucose production by the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus: To improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, especially when metformin alone is insufficient.

Often used as a combination therapy to achieve better blood sugar control than either drug alone.

Dapagliflozin works by blocking SGLT2 in the kidneys, preventing the reabsorption of glucose into the bloodstream. This leads to increased glucose excretion in the urine. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances glucose uptake by peripheral tissues.

Store at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F), away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets unless explicitly instructed by your doctor.

Take with or without food as directed by your physician.

Less Common: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), dehydration, ketoacidosis (a serious complication), allergic reactions.

Rare but Serious: Acute pancreatitis, serious kidney problems, lactic acidosis (a potentially fatal condition)

Common: Urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast infections, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache.

Alcohol Consumption

Limit alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia.



While Driving or operating Machinery

May cause dizziness or lightheadedness, particularly during initiation of treatment. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor.



Children

Not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Requires careful monitoring of kidney function, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney disease; dose adjustments may be necessary.



Liver

Use with caution in patients with liver disease; may require dose adjustment or alternative treatment.
