A sulfonylurea oral antidiabetic drug that stimulates insulin release from the pancreas.
A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor that enhances the body's own incretin hormones, leading to increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially when metformin is not tolerated or is contraindicated, or when metformin and lifestyle modifications are insufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control.
Used as addon therapy to metformin when target blood glucose levels are not reached.
Gliclazide stimulates insulin release from the beta-cells of the pancreas in a glucose-dependent manner. Sitagliptin increases the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which amplify glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and suppress glucagon secretion, leading to improved glycemic control.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protect from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on individual needs and response.
Typically started at a low dose and gradually increased as needed to achieve target blood glucose levels.
Taken once daily with breakfast.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Dizziness, sweating, tremor, headache, palpitations.
Gastrointestinal disturbances: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain.
Allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, swelling.
Liver function abnormalities (rare).
Weight gain.
Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Moderate alcohol consumption should be discussed with your doctor.
Patients experiencing hypoglycemia should avoid driving or operating machinery.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered and only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.
Not recommended for use in children.
