Gliclazide

A sulfonylurea drug that stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin.

Sitagliptin

A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor that enhances the body's own incretin hormones, leading to increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially those whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone.

May be used as an adjunct to metformin when metformin alone is insufficient to control blood sugar levels.

Gliclazide works by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas in response to rising blood glucose levels. Sitagliptin increases the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which further enhance insulin secretion and suppress glucagon production (a hormone that raises blood sugar). The combination improves blood sugar control through complementary mechanisms.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on individual needs and response to treatment.

Typically started at a low dose and gradually increased as needed.

Take the medication as directed by your doctor, usually once daily with breakfast.

Do not crush or chew the tablets.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms can include sweating, shakiness, confusion, and dizziness.

Allergic reactions (rare): Skin rash, itching, swelling.

Gastrointestinal upset: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.

Headache.

Weight gain (potential).

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Limit alcohol intake while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Hypoglycemia can impair alertness and reaction time. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant. Use is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

Not recommended for use in children.



Kidney

Dose adjustment may be necessary for patients with kidney impairment. Renal function should be monitored regularly.



Liver

Dose adjustment may be necessary for patients with liver impairment. Liver function should be monitored regularly.
