Type 2 diabetes mellitus (noninsulin dependent diabetes) to control blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
Cyblex 60 Xr Tab (Gliclazide) belongs to a class of drugs called sulfonylureas. It works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas. Insulin is a hormone that helps glucose (sugar) enter your cells, where it is used for energy. By increasing insulin production, gliclazide helps lower blood sugar levels.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
The dosage of gliclazide is determined by your doctor and will depend on your individual needs.
It is usually taken once a day, with your main meal.
Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow them whole with a glass of water.
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Allergic reactions: Rare but possible, including anaphylaxis.
Increased risk of cardiovascular events: Some studies suggest a possible increased risk of cardiovascular events in people with diabetes taking gliclazide.
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Symptoms include sweating, tremors, dizziness, confusion, and headache.
Gastrointestinal upset: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
Skin reactions: Rash, itching, or hives.
Blood disorders: Anemia, leukopenia, or thrombocytopenia.
Liver problems: Hepatitis.
Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Limit your alcohol intake while taking gliclazide.
Gliclazide may cause dizziness or confusion, especially if your blood sugar is low. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these symptoms.
Gliclazide is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discuss alternative treatments with your doctor.
Gliclazide is not recommended for children.
Kidney impairment may affect the way gliclazide is eliminated from your body. Your doctor may adjust your dosage.
Liver impairment may affect the way gliclazide is eliminated from your body. Your doctor may adjust your dosage.
