Cycloserine

Cycloserine is the active ingredient in medications containing this drug.It is an antibiotic that belongs to a class of drugs called second-line anti-tuberculosis agents.

Treatment of active tuberculosis in patients who are resistant to or intolerant of firstline tuberculosis medications.

Treatment of multidrugresistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in combination with other medications.

Coxerin Tab (Cycloserine) works by inhibiting the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis. It does this by interfering with the synthesis of cell wall components essential for bacterial survival.

Store cycloserine tablets or capsules at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), in a dry place.

The dosage of cycloserine varies depending on the individual patient's condition and response to treatment.

It is typically taken by mouth with food.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and frequency of administration.

Nausea

Vomiting

Dizziness

Headache

Seizures (rare)

Neuropsychiatric effects, such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis (rare)

Hepatitis (inflammation of the liver)

Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects, particularly neuropsychiatric effects. It is generally advisable to avoid alcohol while taking cycloserine.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Cycloserine can cause dizziness and other side effects that may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Cycloserine may harm an unborn baby. If you are pregnant or may become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking this medication. It is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers as cycloserine can pass into breast milk and may harm the baby.



Children

The safety and effectiveness of cycloserine in children have not been established. It is not recommended for use in children.



Kidney

Cycloserine is eliminated by the kidneys. If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.



Liver

Cycloserine can cause hepatitis. If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to monitor your liver function closely.
