Chest pain

Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Rash that spreads or blisters

Peeling skin

Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally recommended to avoid alcohol while taking ethambutol, as it may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Ethambutol can cause vision problems, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any vision problems, avoid these activities until you are able to see clearly.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Ethambutol can harm an unborn baby. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is also not recommended for use while breastfeeding, as it can pass into breast milk.



Children

Ethambutol is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18 years old.



Kidney

Ethambutol is eliminated from the body by the kidneys. If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.



Liver

Ethambutol can also affect the liver. If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to monitor your liver function while you are taking ethambutol.
