A thiazide diuretic that helps your body get rid of excess salt and water.
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), often in patients who haven't responded adequately to monotherapy.
Management of hypertension in patients where a combination of an ARB and a diuretic is appropriate.
Valsartan blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide increases urine output, reducing blood volume and pressure. The combination provides a synergistic effect, leading to more effective blood pressure control.
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
Dosage is determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.
Take the medication as prescribed, usually once daily with or without food.
Do not stop taking the medication abruptly without consulting your doctor.
Dizziness
Lightheadedness
Headache
Fatigue
Muscle cramps
Electrolyte imbalances (potassium, sodium)
Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Allergic reactions (rare)
Alcohol may increase the risk of low blood pressure and dizziness. Limit alcohol intake while taking this medication.
Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you, especially at the beginning of treatment.
This medication is generally not recommended during pregnancy. Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not recommended for breastfeeding.
Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.
Kidney function should be monitored, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
Liver function should be monitored, particularly in patients with liver impairment. Dosage adjustments may be needed.
