Clarithromycin

Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic.It comes in different forms, including tablets, capsules, granules for oral suspension, and intravenous solutions.

Bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, including pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and tonsillitis.

Skin and soft tissue infections.

Gastrointestinal infections, such as peptic ulcer disease and Helicobacter pylori infection.

Certain sexually transmitted infections.

Prevention of bacterial endocarditis (infection of the heart valves) in patients at risk.

Cloff 125mg Syp 30ml (Clarithromycin) works by preventing bacteria from producing essential proteins needed for their survival. It binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, interfering with protein synthesis and ultimately leading to bacterial death.

Store clarithromycin at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), away from light and moisture.

The dosage of clarithromycin varies depending on the type of infection being treated and the patient's age, weight, and kidney function.

It is typically taken twice a day with a glass of water, either with or without food.

The usual duration of treatment ranges from 7 to 14 days, but it can vary depending on the infection.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not stop taking the medication prematurely, even if you start feeling better.

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking clarithromycin may increase the risk of side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Clarithromycin can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Clarithromycin may be harmful to a developing fetus. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits of taking clarithromycin with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

The safety and effectiveness of clarithromycin in children have not been fully established.



Kidney

Clarithromycin can accumulate in the body if kidney function is impaired. Your doctor may adjust your dosage or monitor your kidney function closely.



Liver

Clarithromycin can cause liver problems in rare cases. Tell your doctor if you have a history of liver disease or if you experience any symptoms of liver problems while taking clarithromycin, such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or dark urine.
