Clavulanic Acid

A beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from breakdown by certain bacteria, enhancing its effectiveness.

Amoxicillin works by inhibiting the synthesis of peptidoglycan, a vital component of bacterial cell walls. This ultimately leads to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from being broken down by bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) that would otherwise render it ineffective.

Store the medicine in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children.

Amoxicillin/clavulanate is usually taken orally with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Complete the entire course of medication even if symptoms improve before the prescribed duration. Stopping early may lead to resistance and recurrence of infection.
