Ciprofloxacin

Ciprofloxacin is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called fluoroquinolones.

Bacterial infections of the skin, lungs, urinary tract, bones, joints, and abdomen

Certain sexually transmitted infections

Anthrax (inhalation form)

Typhoid fever

Plague

Gonorrhea

Some eye infections

It may be used to prevent infections in people at high risk, such as those undergoing certain surgical procedures.

Cipro Cent Eye Oint 5gm (Ciprofloxacin) works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It does this by interfering with the bacteria's ability to produce essential proteins needed for survival.

Store ciprofloxacin at room temperature, away from heat, light, and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage and frequency of ciprofloxacin will depend on the type of infection being treated, your age, and your overall health.

It is typically taken by mouth, but it can also be administered intravenously (into a vein) for serious infections.

Take ciprofloxacin exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not stop taking it early, even if you feel better.

Complete the full course of treatment to ensure the infection is completely cleared.

Take ciprofloxacin with a full glass of water.

You can take it with or without food, but it's best to take it on an empty stomach.

More serious side effects can occur, including: Allergic reactions, seizures, tendonitis, and tendon rupture

Common side effects include: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, and drowsiness

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol while taking ciprofloxacin. Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects, such as dizziness and drowsiness.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Ciprofloxacin can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Ciprofloxacin should not be taken during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. It's not recommended to take it while breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.



Children

Ciprofloxacin is not typically prescribed for children, especially those under 18 years old, unless the benefits outweigh the risks.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose of ciprofloxacin.



Liver

Ciprofloxacin may cause liver damage. If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to monitor your liver function while you are taking this medication.
