Cefixime

Cefixime is a type of antibiotic called a cephalosporin.It works by killing bacteria that cause infections.

Cefixime is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including:

Infections of the ears, nose, and throat (otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis)

Infections of the lungs (pneumonia, bronchitis)

Infections of the skin and soft tissues (cellulitis, impetigo)

Infections of the urinary tract (cystitis, pyelonephritis)

Gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted infection)

Cf3 O Tab (Cefixime) works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall. This weakens the cell wall and ultimately causes the bacteria to die.

Store cefixime at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

The dosage of cefixime will vary depending on the type of infection being treated and the patient's age and weight.

It is important to take cefixime exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Cefixime is usually taken by mouth, with or without food.

Do not stop taking cefixime before completing the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better.

If you miss a dose of cefixime, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time.

The most common side effects of cefixime include:

Diarrhea

Nausea

Vomiting

Stomach pain

Headache

Dizziness

Rash

Vaginal yeast infection

Allergic reactions (including hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally safe to consume alcohol while taking cefixime, but excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Cefixime may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving or operating machinery.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Cefixime should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using cefixime during pregnancy or breastfeeding.



Children

The dosage of cefixime for children will be determined by the doctor based on the child's age and weight.



Kidney

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dosage of cefixime.



Liver

Cefixime is not recommended for people with liver disease.
