Trimetazidine

Trimetazidine is primarily used to treat stable angina pectoris, a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.

It can also be used to prevent the occurrence of angina attacks.

Carvidon Mr Tab (Trimetazidine) works by improving the energy production in heart cells, particularly in situations of low oxygen supply. It does this by inhibiting an enzyme called 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase, which is involved in fatty acid metabolism. By inhibiting this enzyme, trimetazidine promotes the use of glucose as an energy source in heart cells, even when oxygen supply is limited. This helps to reduce the workload on the heart and prevents angina symptoms.

Store trimetazidine at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking trimetazidine may increase the risk of side effects, so it is best to limit alcohol consumption.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Trimetazidine can cause dizziness, which may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these activities until you know how the medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Trimetazidine is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of using this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Trimetazidine is not recommended for children, as its safety and effectiveness have not been established in this population.



Kidney

Trimetazidine is mainly excreted by the kidneys. Patients with kidney problems may need to have their dosage adjusted.

Trimetazidine is metabolized by the liver. Patients with liver problems may need to have their dosage adjusted.
